Rising Cost Of R-22 Refrigerant

Just a reminder to our customers;  As we progress into 2013, the rising cost of R-22 refrigerant continues to increase.  Some HVAC companies are now charging anywhere  from $75 -$150 a lb.  If you have a large leak in your system, it may be time to consider a new energy efficient system with R-410A refrigerant, depending on the age and amount of R-22 refrigerant needed in your old system.  Experts say by January 1, 2020, chemical manufacturers will no longer be able to produce R-22 to service existing air conditioners and heat pumps. Read more about the phase out. You can also follow this link to get a better time schedule for the Phase out.
