Evaporative Cooling

Evaporative coolers, also known as swamp coolers can be either a window mounted unit or roof mounted. They can also be installed in conjunction with your central A/C unit. This is called a Piggyback unit.

Evaporative coolers are very efficient as long as the outside air is dry. The more humidity there is in the air, the less effective they will be at cooling. Water is the main source of cooling on an evaporative cooler. Water is stored in a reservoir in the unit and a pump distributes the waster over either straw pads or a filter media. This type of cooling is much more cost effective than central air conditioning, as long as long as the outdoor conditions are favorable. (dry heat.)
